Functions define a set of functions you can use for modeling data filters or simple calculated entity fields . You can add your own database functions (that you create manually in the database and map using this part of the model).
You can use standard functions on the entity level to define
Calculated fields
Entity filters
Calculated fields will not be stored in a data store but their values are calculated by the system. The values will be recalculated by the front-end when changed by the user.
These functions are built-in and you cannot define your own functions.

Fields and filters called by a Function Call Field that are defined with database functions will be retrieved from the database but will not be recalculated, for example if the user changes data in a screen. The fields will be recalculated after changes are saved to the database.
