Backend: Some project files are stored in UTF-16

Hi all,

23 of the 78 .csproj files in the repository are stored as UTF-16 LE, for example Origam.OrigamEngine.csproj and Origam.ReflectorCache.csproj. The same applies to DataAuditLog.xsd, OrigamSpreadsheet.xsd and the two create_*_db.sql scripts in OrigamSetup.

There is no .gitattributes entry for them, so git treats them as binary:

  • diffs and PR reviews show only “Bin 8706 → 8694 bytes”, so dependency bumps and reference changes can’t be reviewed line by line
  • merge conflicts in them can’t be resolved as text
  • git grep and grep don’t find anything inside them

The encoding isn’t stable either. For example, Origam.DA.Common.csproj has switched between UTF-8 and UTF-16 five times since 2022 (#144, #504, #2248, #2383, #3120).

I’m missing the reason why these files are in UTF-16. Is it intentional?
